Babygrows and the Maternity Ward

Hospitals...The dreaded Maternity ward!

Over 7 years on and as my wife only recently said " You Know nothing".
Three kids and I know nothing!
Well, admittedly....that was true the first time.

The first baby was memorable for so many reasons.......many special and several humiliating. That moment with the Finishwinestorage laying tenderly in mums arms and she finally says..."pass me the babygrow"

Well that is it. I have bags all around me crammed with various items from my wifes clothes to books to nappies to snacks to somewhere something that matched the term "babygrow".

Bumbling around pulling out nappies etc and waving them at her the stress of the birth gradually appeared in her voice as my failings at the first fence of fatherhood appeared. Within the first hour of fatherhood the cracks Bearkingduvet already showing. My pre fatherhood research was insufficient, incomplete and worrying flawed. Why I thought did all these magazines, books, lectures not have a simple noddy guide Romantic Crib what "babygrows" look like.

Finally, my hand clasped gleefully the winning ticket....yes the royal seal of approval that this was a babygrow. The room now covered by the contents of our bags.... I thought...please don't ask for anything Romantic Crib pleaseee.

Fortunately, no midwife or birthing assistant witnessed that deeply scaring moment, although further opportunities of embarrassment and humiliation were to follow in the forthcoming hours.

However, lesson learned on this first occasion, the vision of a babygrow would stay lasered on my mind forever!

From then on my conscious efforts to familiar myself with the requirements of a baby grew. Now, a comparitive expert with 3 kids behind me the early essentials would be the following.

A coming home from hospital outfit (weather Wildlifebedrooms dictate - babies prefer the warmth so they tell me!!))

A number of babygrows

Body suits to go under the sleepsuits

Muslin cloths for burping, moping up milk/sick and prehaps a comforter Consolesofatable my third is very attached to hers...also attached many smells..all her favourite I am assured.

Socks and hats (particularly in winter) and hooded bathing towels and washcloths for bathing

Nappies, wipes and cream in abundance.

There are many other babies items of need, eg..bedding etc, but remember quite often you will be in undated with presents which can often become unused if you buy too much prior to the birth.

Ultimately, practical (cheap) rather than pretty (expensive) in the early weeks as Finishplatformbed baby may need changing often 12 times a day.

You can probably not read enough or listen to enough advice about your first baby but you will soon find that you will become an expert in what your baby needs.......as all babies are different and all have different wants in some ways.

And lastly....enjoy parenthood!
